MTSA has created an acute surgical pain management plan to maximize relief from acute surgical pain and minimize the risk of adverse outcomes. The following four (4) *foundational tenets underpin all ASPMF curriculum:
- Optimize the patient’s functional abilities during acute surgical pain management.
- Optimize the physical and psychological well-being of the patient during the management process.
- Incorporate quality of life considerations for patients with acute surgical pain during the perioperative period.
- Assimilate legal and ethical issues in the practice of acute surgical pain management.
*Underpinning all content will be the focus on these foundational tenets.
